Bubba’s Call made it back-to-back wins with victory at Werribee to give the stable an early Christmas present.

Having scored at Tatura over 1600m at his previous start, Bubba’s Call benefitted from a text-book ride from Damian Lane to score again over the same trip.

Covered up behind the leaders to the home turn, Lane stayed on the fence and when the run came Bubba’s Call sprinted through to put the Benchmark 58 race away.

“I was a little worried that they were going slow early as he’s a horse that can be a little one-paced at times,” Lane said.

“Today when the gap appeared he sprinted really quickly.

“He’s a horse that has shown Scott and Russell plenty but he’s just taken time to mature.

“The boys have done a great job with him and got the team flying.”

Scott Cameron said the five-year-old has done well to put two wins together.

“We saw these races in the calendar and thought they would suit him so it’s great to see a plan come together,” Cameron said,

“Damian gave him a cracking ride and he’s a big help to us in the morning so it’s good to get him a winner on race day.”
